I am so proud to once again have Magnetite in my corner, supporting me towards another Paralympics Campaign - Tokyo 2020.

Sydney, October 2019: We are proud to announce our support for Rio Paralympian Gold medallist in Para-triathlete, Katie Kelly as she heads towards qualifying for her second Paralympics, Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.

Magnetite was a major sponsor of Katie on her Road to the Rio 2016 Paralympics where she won Australia's first Gold medal in Paratriathlon (vision impaired class).

Since Rio, Katie has set up Sport Access Foundation and now its third year; the foundation has reached over 200 young Australians living with a disability to improve their access to sport by providing grants.

Katie has had a long standing association with Magnetite through her friendship of our Founder Ben Lafleur.

"Losing Ben was devastating. I'll never forget the night Adrian called me to tell me the news. I was so grateful to have had him as a close friend. He wouldn't have a word of this, but Ben had the truely remarkable characteristics of a beautiful human being. I learnt a lot from his incredible generosity and care for every person he met. Magnetite are a company of great values and invest in their people. I'm so thankful for the whole organisation and its people in helping me have the incredible opportunity to represent our country."

Adrian Lafleur, Managing Director Magnetite shares:

"I recall when I first met Katie and she was always challenging herself for some adventure. When she found out she was legally blind, it was no surprise to me that she would end up working her way into the Australian Paralympic Team in the sport of Paratriathlon. We are so proud of her achievements, but also what she's done to ensure the next generation of young Australians living with a disability will have better access to sport, through Sport Access Foundation. Katie also had a profound impact on our senior team when she presented to them before and after the Rio Paralympics, her values and work ethos strongly resonate with our business, so much so we awarded her the Ben Lafleur Shield in 2016 which is award to a team member who best demonstrates Ben’s values. We hope everyone will get behind Katie towards her Tokyo bid!"
Thanks again, Magnetite!
