Deaf Games

Last night we launched Accessible exhibition 'More than sport - history, culture and connection in deaf and hard of hearing communities' at Newcastle Library, ahead of the 60th anniversary of the Australian Deaf Games 13-21 Jan to be held in the City of Newcastle. It’s an amazing opportunity to be a co-patron of these Games with dual Commonwealth Games swimmer Cindy-Lu Bailey OAM.

🏏 Cricket was the pioneer for Deaf Sports with the first deaf sports club, the Melbourne Deaf Cricket Club, est 1881.

🫶This history says a lot about the determination and passion for people who are Deaf or hard of hearing to connect and maintain their culture and language.
