What role do the Team Managers and support team of Paralympics Australia have at these games?
Great question from ABC's Ned Hall this morning. It reminded me of one of the most loved leaders on the team Tim Mannion.
After my Tokyo race, and knowing my 7 year high performance para-triathlete career was all coming to an end. I knocked on the door of the Media Room, and as timing would have it, only Timmy was in the room at that time. He simply asked me 'Are you ok KK?'It was the conservation I needed in that moment, and speaks volume to the experience of people like Timmy and Kate McLoughlin, and their care and integrity is unquestionable.
Ned and I also spoke about 'What next?' A question the athletes are often asked of, almost sometimes too soon after the intense experience of competing at the Paralympics. It can be that tension between what is next, but then allowing yourself to stay in the moment and celebrate what you have achieved. And they will celebrate!
